Four Injured In Mattoxtown Road Crash

A traffic accident on Mattoxtown Road resulted in injuries to four individuals Sunday evening.

The 7:15 p.m. accident was investigated by Trooper Josh Culp with the Tennessee Highway Patrol.

Reports show that driver Randall A. White, 43, of Virginia Drive was traveling east along the roadway in a 2004 GMC Envoy at what is described as a high rate of speed, when he lost control in a curve, causing the to roll several times. The vehicle then collided with a Dodge Durango driven by Jesse Orton, age 21.

Two of White’s passengers were believed to have been thrown from his vehicle. White was trapped for a time before he could be extricated.

The occupants of Orton’s vehicle escaped without injury. All four occupants of White’s vehicle, however, did sustain injuries and were airlifted to Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville.

Officials reported Monday that White remained a patient in the hospital’s Trauma Unit, while passenger Bobbie Stone, 43, underwent surgery. The remaining two passengers, Trista Bailey, 36, and Emmer Steadman, 43, were both treated at Vanderbilt, then released.

THP was assisted by members of the New Prospect and Ethridge Fire Departments, Lawrence County EMS, Lawrenceburg Police Department and the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department. The victims were airlifted by members of Air Evac Lifeteam and Lifeflight.
