Investigation Requested Into Altered Prescriptions

Law enforcement officials were asked to initiate an investigation this week after clerks at a local pharmacy discovered that prescription slips presented by a Lawrenceburg resident, had been illegally altered.

Officers with the Lawrenceburg Police Department were summoned to Walmart Pharmacy, 2130 North Locust Avenue, on Wednesday. Clerks reported that it was while filling a prescription submitted by a resident of Dunn Leoma Road, that they discovered it had been altered.

Police reports show that the prescription had been issued to the Leoma woman by Comprehensive Pain Specialists of Dickson, Tennessee. Clerks reported that the dosage of Dilaudid had been changed from 2mg to 8 mg.

The discovery resulted in a review of prescriptions submitted by the customer in the past. Clerks said that they had not noticed that a prescription she submitted in November had been altered in the same manner.

Investigation in the matter is continuing, and officials expect that the woman will be arrested on prescription fraud charges in coming days.
