Middle Tennessee District Fair Named Best In The State

The Middle Tennessee District Fair has received top honors at the recent Tennessee Association of Fairs Convention in Nashville.   Over sixty fairs are evaluated each year by the Tennessee Department of Agriculture for quality of exhibits, programs, and operations.  Winners are selected in three divisions based on the population of the county in which the fair is located.   The Middle Tennessee District Fair was the Champion Fair in the AA Division in 2007.  The following year, the division winners compete for the Champion of Champions Award.  The Middle Tennessee District Fair was named 2008 Champion of Champions which is the top recognition that can be received by any Tennessee County Fair.

Upon receiving the award, Fair Manager Keith Rohling thanked the many volunteers who produce the fair, and the community for supporting the fair year after year.

This is the third time that the Middle Tennessee District Fair has been named the Champion of Champions Fair.  It received the award in 1994 and 1956.

In addition, the Tennessee Association of Fairs (TAF) honored Rotarian John M. Beasley, DDS, as its 2008 Thorton Taylor Memorial Award recipient.  The Thorton Taylor Memorial Award is a Lifetime Achievement Award and recognizes years of exemplary service to the TAF and fairs throughout Tennessee.  In receiving the award, Dr. Beasley becomes the second generation in his family to receive this prestigious award.  His father John N. Beasley received the award in 1995.

The Middle Tennessee District Fair is sponsored annually by the Lawrenceburg Rotary Club with proceeds going for improvements to the city’s Rotary Park and other worthwhile projects.  The 2009 fair will run from September 28 through October 4.
