Operation Leads To Arrest, Seizure Of Meth Lab

An operation undertaken by local drug agents Saturday led to the seizure of a meth lab and the arrest of a Mt. Pleasant man.

A press release issued through the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department Tuesday indicates the operation took place on Saturday, January 15, 2011 at a home situated at 95 Dukes Park Road.

Agents had gone to the home to serve a warrant issued against Michael Anthony Lindsey of Mt. Pleasant. The warrant, issued through Maury County, charged Lindsey with violation of parole.

Agents report that when they tried to apprehend Lindsey he attempted unsuccessfully to flush items down the toilet.  The contraband was identified as 30 hallucinogenic mushrooms weighing around 3 grams along with two grams of crystallized methamphetamine.

After gaining consent to conduct a search of the premises, agents report finding a dismantled meth lab concealed inside a black duffle bag in the bathtub of a motor home.

In addition to the violation of parole charge, Lindsey was arrested on charges of possession of schedule I narcotics for the purpose of resale, possession of schedule II narcotics for resale, initiation of meth manufacture, promotion of meth manufacture, tampering with evidence and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Lindsey is presently being held without bond at the Lawrence County Detention Center.
