Witnesses Deter Early Morning Intruders

Witnesses are credited with deterring two would-be burglars who attempted to enter a home on Lawrenceburg’s North Locust Avenue early Sunday morning.

Lawrenceburg Police Officers called to the scene report that the two witnesses were awakened around 5:30 a.m. by the sound of glass shattering. The witnesses told officers they looked out to find two white men attempting to enter the home, located at 1144 North Locust Avenue.

The witnesses reported that the window had been broken out of the door and that the two men had opened the door and were about to enter the residence when they confronted them. When they asked the intruders, “What are you doing?,” the witnesses report the pair turned and fled from the premises.

Officers conducted an inspection of the home and report that screens on both ends of the home had been cut.

The matter remains under investigation at the present time through the department’s Criminal Investigation Division. Anyone who has information pertinent to the investigation is urged to contact the department at 762-2276.
