County Issues Thanks To First Responders

Press release

County Executive J. Mack Chandler is issuing a special thank you to the Lawrenceburg Fire and Police departments following an accident last week at Lawrence County Solid Waste Services.

The accident occurred Thursday afternoon at the solid waste office on Baler Drive when the brakes failed on a vehicle that was pulling up to the office.

The truck hit a gas line located adjacent to the building before striking the building, causing a fire that destroyed the offices. Fortunately no one was seriously injured in the accident.

Sanitation Director Gary Wayne Hyde says the transfer station is open to the public. “We have a makeshift operation going in the front equipment lot,” said Hyde on Monday. “We ask the public to please be patient with us.” Hyde does not know at this time how long it will take to complete the construction of new offices.

County Executive J. Mack Chandler extends his gratitude to emergency personnel for their quick response to the accident. “I want to extend my appreciation to those police officers and firefighters who responded to Thursday’s accident,” said Chandler, “and to all first responders, who put their lives on the line daily to protect the citizens of Lawrence County.”
