Theft Reported From Highway Construction Site

Law enforcement officers were called upon to investigate last week when a theft from a highway construction site was discovered.

Deputies with the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department report that they were dispatched on Friday to an area of U.S. Highway 64, just west of the Highway 43 intersection.

The complaint was filed by an employee of a company tasked with erecting fencing along the new highway.

The complainant reported that sometime during the previous night building materials had been stolen from the construction site.

Approximately thirty T-bars were reported stolen along with eighteen Bulldog hinges and a 3.5 ton jack. He said that the items had been at the construction site when they wrapped up Thursday afternoon.

Loss was estimated to be in excess of $500. Investigation in the matter is currently on-going through the department’s Criminal Investigation Division.
