Lawrenceburg Man Jailed For Violating Sex Offender Registry Law

   A Lawrenceburg man was taken into police custody Friday for violating the state Sex Offender Registry law.

   According to reports filed through the Lawrenceburg Police Department the arrest was made during a review of the status of local offenders.

During the review they discovered that Carrol Dean Yocom, age 43, of 428 Third Street had failed to meet the deadline for his quarterly registration.

They report that Yocom was required to report by the deadline of December 31, 2013. Reports indicate that they had made multiple attempts to contact Yocom prior to the deadline.

   Officers obtained a warrant, charging Yocom with one count of violation of the sex offender registry law. They then made their way to his home where he was apprehended without incident.

   During a routine search subsequent to arrest officers report finding Xanax pills in Yocom’s pocket. As a result he was additionally charged with possession of Schedule IV narcotics.

   Yocom has been scheduled an initial appearance in Lawrence County General Sessions Court on February 6, 2014.
