Summertown Resident Sustains Dog Bite While Getting Mail

A resident of the Summertown area reported to local authorities Monday that she sustained a dog bite while retrieving her mail.

The victim, a thirty-four-year-old resident of Lentz Road, told Lawrence County Sheriff’s Deputies that she had walked to her mailbox to check the mail around 2:10 p.m. when her neighbor’s dog came into her yard and bit her on the back of her leg.

Deputies documented the bite with photographs, showing where the dog had bitten through the victim’s blue jeans and into the flesh.

Although deputies attempted to make contact with the owner of the black and tan mixed breed dog, they report they had been unable to do so at the time reports were filed.
