Resident Busted After Selling Drugs To Undercover Officers

A Lawrenceburg resident was arrested in past days after she allegedly sold illegal drugs to undercover narcotics agents.

According to a press release issued Thursday by Lawrence County Sheriff Kenny Taylor, the operation took place on December 12 at the 695A Glenn Springs Road home of Beverly Jean “Cookie” Reed, age 50.

Taylor points out that the action was a combined operation of his department’s Crime Suppression Unit and the Lawrenceburg Police Department, undertaken after Cook allegedly “sold crack cocaine to undercover agents working for both departments on different occasions.”

Drug agents made their way to Reed’s home where they executed a search warrant. Inside, they report seizing approximately three grams of crack cocaine, a small amount of marijuana, and a number of items of drug paraphernalia associated with the use and distribution of illegal narcotics.

Taylor reports that, “While agents were searching the premises, a total of five other individuals arrived at the house, allegedly to purchase crack cocaine from Reed.” All five were detained for questioning.

Reed was placed under arrest on charges that include simple possession of marijuana, possession of crack cocaine with intent to sell, and possession of drug paraphernalia. Once processed, Reed was released under a bond of $27,000.

Reed is slated to answer the charges through Lawrence County General Sessions Court in January.
