The Shelter Recipient Of Grant Award

Officials with The Baptist Healing Trust have announced that Lawrenceburg’s The Shelter, Inc., has been selected as a recipient of nearly $40,000 in grant funds.

President and CEO of The Baptist Healing Trust, Erie Chapman, made the announcement on Wednesday. Chapman pointed out that the mission of The Baptist Healing Trust, created when Baptist Hospital in Nashville sold to Ascension Health in St. Louis, Missouri, is “to be a caring ministry devoted to healing with love in the Christian tradition.”

The trust is allocating grant funds of some $1.9 million to be distributed to 43 charities throughout Middle Tennessee “for a variety of health related projects.” The grant funds are being awarded to non-profit organizations in the mid-state in order to “help create access to quality, compassionate health services for the community’s vulnerable.”

The grant being awarded to The Shelter totals $39,309. The funds are to be used for start up and operational costs associated with establishing a Batterers Intervention Program at the facility.

This year’s grant awards brings the total collective grants awarded through the trust to more than $36 million since it was established in 2002.
