Mrs. Walters was born in Appleton, TN., to parents James Daniel Hendrix and Ethel Mae Stinnett Hendrix. Mrs. Walters was a retired Church Secretary for Jackson Park Church of Christ in Nashville, where she was also a long time member.

Frank Brown, age 91, of Lawrenceburg, TN passed away Saturday, June 24, 2017 at NHC Healthcare of Lawrenceburg. He was a native of Lawrence County, retired from Union Carbide, and a member of Pulaski Street Church of Christ. Mr. Brown served his country honorably in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William Isaac and Louisa Hall Brown; and his first wife, Marie Hooker Brown.

Martha Nell Craft Putnam Stevens, 74, passed away Tuesday, June 20, 2017, peacefully in her home in Naverre, FL., after many months of illness. Mrs. Stevens was born August 18, 1942 in Lawrenceburg, TN., to her parents, the (late) Lewis and Sue Craft. As a young girl she loved tumbling, skating and dancing. In school she played basketball and was a lead maajorette at Lawrence County High School.
After high school she studied business at Olds School of Business. Martha loved scrapbooking and cooking when she got older and loved the beach as well. This is how she transitioned from Tennessee to Florida, where she began her career in Human Resources.
She was also known by a few aliases such as Aunt Mott, Mossy, Granny Gran or Gran and Bugs or Bugs Bunny.

William "Bill" McMahan, 95, of Louisville, Kentucky passed away on June 10, 2017. He was born in rural Lawrence County, TN., on August 4, 1921, just 95 years after Thomas Jefferson and John Adams died (1826). A natural equestrian, he spent so much time on horseback as a small boy, that his childhood nickname was "Horsefly".
Immediately following the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor, Bill enlisted in the United States Navy and saw action aboard the U.S.S. Zeilin throughout the Pacific Theater. He is profiled in five pages of the World War II book Attack Transport (Robert Witter, 2001)
He was a graduate of the University of Tennessee, where he studied engineering following the War. There, he met his beloved wife, Binnie Louise Helton. They were married for 66 years, until his death. Bill was an active Christian and elder at Meadowview Presbyterian and later attended and seved as a Sunday School teacher for Buechel United Methodist Church. He worked as a claims adjuster and insurance investgatior for Liberty Mutual and as an insurance agent for Sentry Insurance.

Dorothy Lumpkins "Dot" Parkes, age 98 passed away peacefully following a short illness on Tuesday, May 23, 2017 at STRHS, Lawrenceburg. She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, James F. Parkes, Sr. and other family members and siblings.
Dot is survived by her four children, Judy Parkes Piovarcy (Lee), Carol Parkes James (Sid), Jim Parkes, Jr. (Claudette), and Marian Lee Parkes, all of Lawrenceburg.
Six Grandchildren and ten Great Grandchildren who reside in Lawrenceburg, Atlanta, Nashville and Oklahoma City.
During her lifetime Dot was active in her church, The First United Methodist Church of Lawrenceburg, the Lioness Club, the ABC Club, Thursday Club and the Flower Lovers Circle. She was supportive of church, school and community activities along with her husband and children and most recently her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Taught the finer points of baseball by Jim, Sr., she became a lover of the game and avidly followed the Atlanta Braves, rarely missing one of their televised games.
Services for Dot Parkes conducted by Rev. James Sewell of Nashville will be held at First United Methodist Church, Lawrenceburg, on Saturday, May 27, 2017. Visitation will be at the church from 1pm to 3pm with funeral services to follow and burial in Mimosa Cemetery. Pall bearers will be her grandsons, Jay Piovarcy, John Piovarcy, Daniel Hunt, Tracy Dean and great grandsons, Dylan Pivarcy and Eli Carlson.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, Marcus Eugene (Gene) Gambrell, Sr.; one daughter, Deborah Kaye Gambrell; one son, Marcus Eugene Gambrell, Jr.; parents, William L. and Mary Springer Robertson of Wayne County, TN; and brothers, William and Archie Robertson.
Christine was the last adult charter member of New Prospect Baptist Church which was organized in 1952 serving as Church Clerk for over 40 years, taught an Adult Ladies Sunday School class, was a member of the Women's Missionary Union and worked in Bible School as a teacher. Christine also was a member of the Women's Missionary Union and worked in Bible School as a teacher. Christine also was a member of the New Prospect Home Demonstration (FCE) Cllub and contributed weekly article "Lone Star News" for the Democrat Union newspapter for over 50 years. Christine loved to sew, crochet, quilt, garden, camp and fish. The country fair always had entries from her talent and she won countless ribbons.

Wallace Hubert (W.H.) Thompson, Jr., of Lexington, AL passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, May 9, 2017. He was 72 years old. He was born on July 29, 1944 to Wallace Sr. and Jimmie Boone Richardson Thompson. He attended school at Lexington then graduated from Deshler High School in 1962. He received his bachelor’s degree from Florence State College and his masters from Montevallo.
After a brief teaching/coaching career, he worked in banking and spent much of his career with FDIC. He was recently employed with CB&S Bank in Russellville. He was a Bible class teacher and member of Northside Church of Christ in Lexington. He was a faithful servant and devoted to his family.
W.H. was preceded in death by his father, Wallace Thompson, Sr.; two daughters, Wendy and Amanda; and sister Jean Murks. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Polly Bowling Thompson; daughters Leigh Stanfield (Gerald) and Tammy Westbrook (Chris); his beloved grandchildren Cheney, Chloe, Trey, and Elijah Westbrook; his mother, Boone Thompson; sisters Anne Howard (Roger) and Pam Thompson; brother Charles Thompson (Cynthia); a treasured uncle, Dave Thompson (Karen); and numerous nephews, nieces, brethren, and friends.

Marcus Eugene Gambrell Jr. of Nashville TN, passed away May 6, 2017 at Alive Hospice in Nashville TN at the age of 74, due to complications from having Rapidly Progressive Alzheimer Disease.
A 1961 graduate of Lawrence County High School in Lawrenceburg TN. He served four years in the United States Air Force as an airplane mechanic servicing B-52’s. After leaving the Air Force Marcus worked at the Nashville CSX Radnor Yard as a switch engineer and at times moved engines around the tracks.
He loved to re-furbish tractors and enjoyed showing them in antique tractor shows as well as entering tractors in a "slow crawl" contest. Marcus also worked as an over the road driver delivering mail between Nashville, Memphis, Chattanooga, and Clinton via Oak Ridge, TN. After retiring from the mail delivery service he owned and operated a pallet handling business earning him the nickname of “the pallet guy”.
Marcus was the first born son of Marcus “Gene” Eugene Gambrell Sr. and Annie Christine Robertson Gambrell.
He is survived by his wife Marilyn Johnson Gambrell of Nashville.

Martha Jewell Denson Boston, age 93 of Lawrenceburg, Tennessee passed away Saturday, May 6, 2017 at Southern TN Regional Health System in Lawrenceburg, TN.
She was a native of Cullman, AL., and retired from Suntrust Bank after 43 years of service.
As a member of Coleman Memorial United Methodist Church, Martha was a Sunday School teacher until the age of 88, choir director for many years and an active member of the United Methodist Women's group since the age of 18.
Martha Jewell grew up in a musical family and she became an accomplished vocalist, pianist and accordion player. She attended numerous Vaughan singing schools. In her early years, she and her family performed as the "Jewel Denson Family". In her late teens, Martha and her brothers sang Southern Gospel music and the "Baxter Melody Makers". This group traveled extensively and performed on live radio daily. Martha was community minded and she was asked many times to sing or play at community functions and she always accepted.
Martha Boston was preceded in death by her husband, George Edward Boston; her parents, Jewel and Calera Denson; and her twin brothers, Elwood and Edwin Denson.

Mr. Clayton served his country honorably during World War II, the Korean Conflict and the Vietnam Era, originially enlisting into the U.S. Navy, December 12, 1941, retiring from the U.S. Air Force in 1974.

Glenn Ray McMurtrey, passed from this life at his home on Wednesday, April 26, 2017 at the age of 79 years, 1 month, 6 days. He was born in Killen, AL., and lived in the St. Florian Community for 54 years.
Glenn was a member of Mt. Zion Church of Christ, but attended Kilburn Church on Wednesday and Sunday nights. Glenn grew up as a county boy and found a career in insurance sales. He never forgot his roots and enjoyed tending to his cattle and large garden as long as his health would allow. Glenn was a wonderful father, always thinking of his family and those sick and in need.

Born on October 28, 1939 in Giles County, Marshall was the son of the late Herman Daughtry and the late Mary Oma Swain Daughtry. He was a member of Mars Hill Baptist Church in Lawrenceburg and worked as an over the road truck driver. Marshall loved nature and taking walks on his land, and he especially loved to fish.
In addition to his wife, Dorothy, Marshall is survived by his daughter, Susan (Jonathan Burnett) Daughtry of Lawrenceburg; son, John (Amanda) Daughtry of Lawrenceburg; sister, Martha Chambers of Dayton Beach, FL; and granddaughter, Kelsey Daughtry of Lawrenceburg.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, David Daughtry.

Larry Hoyt Giles, 68 of Lawrenceburg, Tennessee passed away Friday, April 21, 2017. He went peacefully surrounded by his family. He leaves behind his wife Lillie Sue Giles; a son, Terry H. Giles of Unionville, TN.; a daughter, Angie Bettina "Tina" Haynes of Murfreesboro, TN.; six grandchildren, Brittany White, Austin Barnett, Jailah Benet, and Bryce Haynes all of Murfreesboro, TN., Kynsea Brook Giles and Larissa Noelle Giles of Unionville, TN.
Larry was born and raised in Lawrence County and attended E.O. Coffman Elementary School. At 16 he won the Lawrence County Golden Gloves Award for boxing. He was retired from Nissan where he worked for over 22 years as a Tool and Die Maintenance Technician in the stamping plant in Smyrna, TN. He was also the founder and Co-Owner of Sue's Bluegrass Klassic Koffee Shop and Pickin' Parlor located in Ethridge, TN. He was well known in the Bluegrass Music community and worked on a few different albums with The Mixed Countians and a few others. He was known by many as The Mandolin Man, but to his closest friends he was known as Whiskers.
Larry was a loong time member of the Murfreesboro Hot Rod Association and the Lawrence County Classics Car Club. He was also a member of College Place Church of Christ in Lawrenceburg. He was known for his musical achievements and his warm smirky smile, but also for his ability to speak Sign Language to the deaf where for many years he was an interpreter for the deaf at many different churches. He will forever be known for his trademark sign of "I Love You" which he spread across different continents like a virus where he taught the Japanese and others the sign for peace and love.
You will forever be on our minds, in our hearts, and in our music.

Allen Lindsey Smith, age 63 of Lawrenceburg, Tennessee passed awway Sunday, April 2, 2017 at Southern TN Regional Health System in Lawrenceburg, TN. He was a native of Lawrenceburg, TN., parts salesman at B & W Auto Parts, a member of the American Legion Post 146 and the Elks Lodge #2206.
He was preceded in death by his father, Lindsey Smith; and two sons, Casey Allen Smith and Allen Lindsey Smith II.
