Squirrel Hunt In January Sponsored By TWRA
The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency is sponsoring a youth Squirrel Hunt on January 17, 2015. This hunt will begin at 5:00 a.m. and end at noon at Lawrenceburg Rotary Park.
This is for youth ages 6-16. The youth ages 10-16 must have completed the hunter safety class or possess an apprentice hunting license Type 012.
To sign up for the hunt, hunters should call Jeff Hummel at 931-964-4558 or 615-339-8687 by the deadline of Wednesday January 14, 2015. The hunt will be conducted using squirrel dogs and hunters will be drawn in casts.
Each cast will have a dog handler and a guide to assist the hunters. The hunt will be conducted on private lands and leases and on Laurel Hill WMA. We will begin with a breakfast cooked by G.W.Cobb and crew.
Anybody that wants to help guide the hunters, enter your squirrel dog in the hunt, or help with breakfast donations can also contact Jeff Hummel.
This is only a fun hunt to introduce the young hunters to the sport of squirrel hunting with the use of dogs.
