Christmas Eve shoplifter jailed for criminal trespassing

A woman caught shoplifting on Christmas Eve was jailed after authorities found that she had previously been banned from returning to the business.

While there on another shoplifting call, an officer with the Lawrenceburg Police Department indicates that he was contacted by members of the Walmart Loss Prevention Department.

A department employee said he had been keeping an eye on a woman who “had been known to push her buggy out without paying” for the merchandise. He said that she had been pushing a shopping cart around the store, collecting various items.

As the employee and officer watched, they said the woman pushed her cart past the last checkout lane in the Garden Center, then proceeded outside into the parking lot without stopping to pay for nearly $300 worth of merchandise.

The officer reports that the woman, identified as thirty-seven year old April Nichole Judkins of 1158 Marable Road, was stopped in the parking lot and escorted back inside the business.

Loss Prevention employees found that she had signed a “no trespassing” agreement in March of 2014, agreeing that she would “not be back on Walmart property.”

Judkins was placed under arrest on a charge of criminal trespassing and transported to the Lawrence County Detention Center. She was incarcerated under a $2,000 bond.

Judkins was additionally issued a citation for the crime of shoplifting. She is scheduled to answer the charges in General Sessions Court on January 8, 2018.
