Criminal charges pending in crash that claimed two lives Saturday evening

Authorities with the Tennessee Highway Patrol report that charges are pending in a Saturday evening crash that claimed the lives of two individuals.

The two-vehicle crash occurred at around 5:45 p.m. at the U.S. Highway 64 East/Wesley Chapel Road intersection. Reports show that thirty-three year old Casey E. Hillhouse of Lawrenceburg was traveling southbound on Wesley Chapel Road, driving a 2012 GMC Sierra. The second driver, forty-seven year old Wanda C. Gray of Savannah, was traveling eastbound along Highway 64 in a 2006 Hyunda SGX.

Reports indicate that Hillhouse failed to stop at the intersection, pulling into Gray's lane of travel and causing her to crash into his truck. Both vehicles left the roadway following impact. Hillhouse's truck came to rest after striking a fence.

Both passengers in Gray's vehicle, fifty-two year old Cynthia L. Williams of Pulaski and forty-two year old Ladonna L. Cruz of Tuscumbia, Alabama were killed in the crash. Both Hillhouse and Gray sustained injuries, as did a six year old boy who was a passenger in Hillhouse's vehicle. Trooper Wesley Bosheers, who is investigating the crash, noted that the boy was secured with a seatbelt but not in a car seat.

Reports show that alcohol was a factor in the crash. At the present time, authorities report that criminal charges are pending.
