Friday Crime Report
Shoplifting
Police officers responded to Quik Mart #30 on North Locust Avenue Tuesday to investigate a shoplifting incident. They report that Shannon Gail Benefield had entered the store, eaten a bag of chips and disposed of the package, then concealed several items inside her pockets and purse. Benefield was booked at the Lawrence County Jail on a shoplifting charge and held under a $2,000 bond.
Theft
Officers were called to a Thomas Street home Monday where the eighteen year old resident reported that a visitor had stolen her wallet which contained various cards and her headphones. She reported her loss to be approximately $52.
Aggravated burglary
A local man filed a complaint with police officers Monday, saying that he had come to check on a Sixth Street home and found that it had been burglarized. He said the resident is in a nursing home and that he has power of attorney. The back door sustained considerable damage and a number of household items were stolen. Loss was estimated at $1,000.
Recovered firearm
Officers were called to a Lawrenceburg pawn shop where employees reported recovery of a stolen firearm. They said that the current owner had wished to pawn the Remington 12 gauge shotgun, but that a standard check revealed that it had been reported as stolen out of Robertson County, Georgia some time ago. The owner told officers that he had purchased the gun at a flea market from an unknown individual.
Theft
A 42” LG flat screen television was reportedly stolen from a Holtsford Street home while the residents were away. A friend staying at the home said that “a man named Herman had come to the house and told him that the TV belonged to him and handed him $61 and took off with the TV.” The case remains under investigation.
Theft
Officers were summoned to Southern Tennessee Regional Health Systems Lawrenceburg where a resident reported that her debit card had been stolen out of her purse, which had been inside of her closet. She discovered that it had been used to make a payment to Charter Communications and to make other purchases.
