Power Outage Results When Truck Driver Breaks Pole
A witness reported last week that a power outage in the Rushing/East Edan Road area had resulted after a truck driver broke a power pole while negotiating a turn.
The witness reported to Lawrence County Sheriff’s Deputies that he had been quilting inside his home when he noticed the truck driver attempting to negotiate a right turn from Rushing Road onto East Edan Road. He told deputies that he knew the driver would be unable to negotiate the turn so he laid his quilting aside and went to watch.
The witness said that once the truck driver realized he could not make the turn, he backed his truck and trailer up, “then swung wide and proceeded to make the turn anyway.” He said the driver, “eased the trailer against a power pole…as leverage and in the process of the driver pushing is trailer around the corner by the pole, the pole broke causing a power outage in the area.” The witness told deputies that the driver, “did this on purpose to make the turn”
Employees of Lawrenceburg Utility Systems worked to quickly repair the damages and restore power. Damages were estimated to total $6,000.
