Woman retrieving her dog reports burglary
Lawrenceburg Now
A local woman summoned Lawrenceburg Police officers to her residence last week after she discovered burglars had entered her home while she was chasing her dog.
The fifty-six year old victim spoke with officers at her Oak Street apartment Friday morning. She said that her dog had begun to bark frantically at the front door “like something was going on.” She told officers that when she opened the door to check, her dog fled outside, running to an adjacent building.
The victim said that as she chased her dog she noticed three men were standing at the end of the breezeway. She had run out of the apartment shutting her door behind her, but not taking the time to retrieve her keys and lock it. She said that she grabbed her dog and returned to her apartment in time to see the three men fleeing across a nearby field, in the direction of Clearview Avenue.
The victim told officers that when she re-entered her apartment, she found that the bag containing her prescription medications had been stolen from her living room. In total, it contained twelve bottles of prescription meds.
The matter remains under investigation through the department’s Criminal Investigation Division at the present time. Anyone who has information about the crime should contact the department at 931-762-2276.
