More Vehicles Burglarized In Lawrenceburg Area
Law enforcement officials are continuing to investigate a number of automobile burglaries reported in the Lawrenceburg area in recent weeks.
A Leoma woman reported to officers with the Lawrenceburg Police Department Tuesday that burglars had targeted her 2005 Hyundai Santa Fe while she was shopping. The victim reported that she had parked her vehicle outside of Dollar Tree on North Locust Avenue, went inside, and shopped for around thirty minutes.
The victim told officers that she drove home but later discovered that her mail had been stolen from inside the vehicle, along with $5 in change. The papers taken included her Social Security information, utility statement, and bank statement.
Also on Tuesday, a Summertown man reported that his 1993 Chevrolet truck had been burglarized while he was shopping at Walmart, located at 2130 North Locust Avenue.
The man told officers that when he started to get inside his truck he noticed that his glove compartment had been opened. He said he walked to the passenger side and discovered that speaker wires had been pulled up, tearing the carpet. The man told officers that nothing appeared to be missing, but that damages would total in excess of $250.
Law enforcement officials are continuing to urge residents to secure their vehicles any time they are not inside. During the holiday shopping season remember to keep doors locked and make certain that no valuables are in view.
