Firefighters respond to smoke in the kitchen area of Coffman Middle School Wednesday
Press release
On Wednesday morning at 8:29 am the Lawrenceburg Fire Department responded to a report of smoke in the cafeteria building at the E.O. Coffman Middle School.
Upon the arrival of firefighters, the building had been evacuated.
Firefighters encountered a substantial amount of smoke in the kitchen area of the cafeteria. The source of the smoke was quickly identified by firefighters as a dryer on fire.
Firefighters acted quickly to extinguish the fire, and confined it to the area of origin. Firefighters removed the dryer from the structure and cleared the structure of smoke.
The scene was then turned over to school officials. There were no children in the Cafeteria at the time of the fire, and there were no injuries as a result of the incident.
Quote from Chief Moore “Due to the school system employees acting quickly and consistently with their training, damage to the building was kept to a minimum.”
