Man attempting to sell firearm discovers it was stolen

Lawrenceburg Now

A local man who attempted to sell a firearm last week discovered that it had been reported stolen in the past.

Lawrenceburg Police officers were summoned to Better Deal Pawn on North Locust Avenue Thursday. Employees reported that a local man had sought to sell his Remington model 1100 12 gauge shotgun. During a routine check through the National Crime Information Center, however, they discovered that it had been reported as stolen out of Robertson County, Georgia.

The owner told officers that he had purchased the shotgun at a flea market, but that he did not know the seller’s name.

The matter remains under investigation.
