Lawrenceburg Now
Shoplifting
Police officers were asked to investigate a shoplifting incident from Walmart. Reports show that a woman had been caught on video surveillance, leaving the store without paying for all of her merchandise. Store officials estimated that she had made off with $357.29 worth of merchandise.
Vehicle burglary
The owner of a 2006 Dodge Ram reported to officers last week that someone had entered his vehicle and stolen his wallet from the front seat. He said the wallet contained various cards, his driver’s license, and $60 cash. The vehicle was undamaged with no sign of forced entry. Loss was around $80
Fugitive from Justice
Police officers arrested Jordan Curtis Watts, age 19, of 410 Manor Drive last week on charges that he was a fugitive of justice from Tishomingo, Mississippi. He was jailed to await extradition.
Theft
A Taurus Millenium Pro PT111 9mm pistol was reportedly stolen out of a 2005 Dodge ram truck last week, resulting in a loss of around $200 for the owner. He told officers that he believed he had left the truck unlocked.
Shoplifting
Police officers responded to Cash Saver on North Locust in Lawrenceburg where store officials reported that a man and woman had been inside the store earlier. They said the woman had been “stuffing items into a large purse.” When they attempted to detain the couple, they report that the man bumped into a teenage employee in order to leave the store. Both got into a black Dodge truck and left, heading northbound. At the time reports were filed store officials were working to determine the amount of loss involved.
Aggravated burglary
An eighteen year old resident of Old Florence Road reported last week that someone had entered her home and stole her backpack, which contained a Lawrence County School System-issued Chromebook. The victim had found paperwork beneath a piece of furniture inside her apartment bearing the name of a woman. She told officers that she did not know the woman. She said she was uncertain how the person responsible had gained access.
Theft
An Echo brand weed eater and leaf blower were reportedly stolen from a School Street, West Point home. They were taken from the front porch. Loss was around $400.
Fraudulent debit card charges
Deputies spoke with a Wateroak Street, Summertown resident who reported that someone had taken her debit card from her vehicle, then used it to make $300 worth of fraudulent purchases.
Forgery
A Leoma man told deputies recently that someone had stolen two checks out of his checkbook, which he had kept inside his truck. He said that one of the checks was forged then cashed, resulting in a loss to him of around $500.
Theft
A loss of around $500 was reported by a Cardinal Court resident who indicated that his 380 caliber Sig Sauer handgun had been stolen out of his truck at his home. He said that his security camera had been moved so as not to record the crime.
Vandalism
Around $400 in damage was reported at a farm at Odom/Rascal Town Road in the Loretto area. The victim told deputies that someone had damaged his cattle gate.
