The Loretto High School Virtual Enterprises, International™ firm, The Animal Kingdom, Inc., attended the Southern Region Conference & Exhibition in Pigeon Forge, TN on November 19th – 21st.
This year’s event included over 1,800 participants and 96 virtual firms representing schools from Tennessee, North Carolina, South Carolina, California, Illinois, Michigan, and New Jersey.
The LHS Business Plan Team, consisting of Rachel Gulley, Ian Hall, Cale Kress, Blair Shelton, and Jordan Shelton, competed on Monday, November 20th in the Tennessee State Business Plan Competition finals.
The LHS team was among six teams from Tennessee who qualified to compete in the state finals by having top scores on the written business plan, as well as top scores in the oral presentations at the regional level.
This year’s event was held at the beautiful LeConte Event Center for the first time. The venue was filled with over 96 virtual companies marketing their products and competing in newly-designed competitions in various areas of business.
The Animal Kingdom, Inc. achieved recognition for all of their hard work and preparation for this year’s competitions by receiving the following awards: 2nd Place – Human Resources Competition, 3rd Place – Company Branding Design, Honorable Mention – Company Newsletter Design, and 3rd Place in the coveted Booth Design Competition from among the 96 booths in attendance.
In addition, the company salespeople also exceeded their sales goal for the day by almost 50%, with over $266,000 in sales processed that day!
In the recent National Company Branding Competition, LHS placed in the Top 10% from among the 205 firms who competed, achieving 4.5 out of 5 stars for their marketing applications and branding strategies. At this time, the students are making plans and preparing for the upcoming competitions and events that will be held during the Virtual Enterprise International Trade Fair in New York, NY in April.
Attending this year’s trade fair and enjoying the beautiful sites of Christmas in the mountains were LHS students Brooke Buttrum, Olivia Chadwell, Trinity Ezell, Rachel Gulley, Ian Hall, Carlie Hobbs, Cale Kress, Drake Perry, Conner Potts, Blair Shelton, Jordan Shelton, Jordan Shults, Savannah Springer, Alene Taylor, Joey Telker, Chase Weigart, Alli White, and their VE Instructor, Ms. Mary Pack. The LHS Virtual Enterprise Program would like to thank all of the community and family members who support them in their fundraising efforts. Without you, programs like this would not be possible!
