Shots fired at Lawrenceburg apartment complex
Lawrenceburg Now
Local authorities are investigating an incident that occurred Sunday night during which shots were fired outside of a Lawrenceburg apartment complex.
According to reports filed through the Lawrenceburg Police Department, officers were dispatched to apartments located at 2102 Springer Road just after 10:30 p.m. The female resident, age twenty-nine, reported that a male friend had spent the night at her home the previous night. She said that his ex-girlfriend had come to her home, “banging on the door and shouting obscenities” while making threats to do her bodily harm.
She told officers that the woman left after she threatened to call for police. She said a few minutes later she heard gunshots in the parking lot. The male friend found that someone had shot his 2002 Ford Taurus.
A witness reported that she had been walking to a friend’s apartment when she saw a black or gray Nissan Maxima drive through the parking lot. She said that there was an arm extended from the front passenger side window, grasping a handgun. The witness said that the person holding the gun had fired three shots at the car before the driver fled. She told officers that she had been unable to get a good look at the persons inside of the car.
Officers reported finding two bullet holes in the vehicle. One round had entered through the rear glass on the driver’s side, passing through the back seat and lodging in the driver’s seat. The second round entered just above the handle on the passenger side rear door and did not exit.
Reports show that damages to the car were estimated to total $1,200. Investigation into the crime is currently on-going through the department’s Criminal Investigation Division.
