Pictures of unconscious assault victim posted on Facebook
Lawrenceburg Now
Law enforcement officials initiated an investigation on Wednesday after a local woman reported she had been assaulted and her attacker had posted pictures of her on Facebook while she lay injured and unconscious.
The thirty-four year old victim spoke with officers of the Lawrenceburg Police Department at around 2:45 p.m. She said the assault incident was the result of an argument that day when she was dropping off her child to visit with the child’s father.
The victim told officers that after she arrived at the May Street home her ex’s current girlfriend began to argue with her about him. She said that the encounter had soon turned physical.
Officers noted that the victim had sustained serious injuries, including two black eyes, bruises all over her body, and knots on her head. She had no recollection of the assault itself, but said that she had seen a picture of herself that her attacker had posted on Facebook. She said that it was an image of her lying unconscious accompanied by a derogatory caption.
The victim told officers that she is willing to seek prosecution in the matter. Investigation into the assault is currently continuing by detectives with the department’s Criminal Investigation Division.
