Christmas for Critters Campaign begins
Christmas for Critters runs through the end of the month and is seeking donations for the Lawrenceburg Animal Shelter.
The shelter houses homeless puppies and dogs found within the city and either places them with rescues or adopts them out. The shelter averages an adoption rate of 90%.
The shelter has seen several facility and grounds improvements in recent years. Shelter Director Rene Segraves says the main improvement needed now at the facility is a designated quarantine area that would serve as a separate intake space for puppies or sick animals.
Monetary donations are needed to cover the cost of modifying the existing facility to create the quarantine area. Those wishing to donate can mail checks, made out to the city of Lawrenceburg – be sure to specify on the check that the donation is for the animal shelter - to 233 West Gaines Street, Lawrenceburg.
An elderly Lawrenceburg woman recently provided the Shelter its first Critters donation. She donated $100 to help the shelter dogs and encourages everyone to give what they can to help out the homeless dogs of our community this holiday season.
Donations of dry dog food can be purchased at Performance Feed and left there for pick-up or dropped off at the Lawrenceburg Police Department. Donations of canned food, paper towels, bottled cleaners, bleach, and laundry detergent are also needed. These items can be dropped off at the Lawrenceburg Police Department.
All donations, no matter how large or small, are greatly appreciated. The Shelter is located at 815 Gaither Avenue, adjacent to the Mitzi Sweet Memorial Dog Park.
