Summertown teen still missing

Although local law enforcement officers have been working to locate a Summertown teenager who went missing the day after Thanksgiving, they have been unable to determine her whereabouts.

The search for fifteen year old Maranda Curtis began after her adopted father reported her missing on Friday, November 23. He told deputies with the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department that money had gone missing in their home early that morning and that, eventually, his daughter had confessed to taking it.

Later in the day his wife took both of their daughters shopping. Once they arrived home he said he told Curtis that they would discuss the money matter the next day. When they awoke on Saturday morning, however, they discovered that she had run away.

Friends and family members have spoken with investigators and they have checked several locations, hoping to locate Curtis. As of Monday, they have been unable to do so.

Anyone who knows Curtis’ whereabouts or has information that might assist in the investigation is asked to contact the sheriff’s department at 762-3626 or 762-0450.
