"By simply logging on to our county's new website, citizens will now have the ability to pay their taxes, renew their car tags, apply for a marriage license, contact local elected officials, watch recent meetings, apply for county jobs and much more," said Commissioner Chris D. Jackson, Chairman of the county's Technology Committee.

Jackson points out that the website also has a mobile version which will allow visitors to easily conduct county business from their cell phone or tablet.

"We have gathered as much information as we can to put on the website so when citizens visit it they can get the information they need in a timely manner. In a day and time where everyone's time continues to be limited, this will make conducting county business just a little bit easier. It is all about being transparent, serving the public and making government as user-friendly as possible," says Jackson.

And while the new website will be a benefit to the citizens of Lawrence County, County Executive TR Williams says it will also help the county in the area of economic development and tourism. "We live in a 21st Century world where industries who are looking to relocate often view a community first through a web browser before they make an in-person visit. So first impressions matter. The same can be said for tourists planning a vacation."

"Knowing that, it is vital that our county has a professional and progressive presence on the internet that showcases our county's strengths and attributes. We are proud this website does just that," Williams added.
