Sound equipment stolen from Lawrenceburg church

A Lawrenceburg church suffered a near-$3,000 loss when burglars made off with sound equipment during the weekend.

The pastor of Lawrenceburg Baptist Temple, located at 801 Beuerlein Street, reported the crime to Lawrenceburg Police officers at around 9:30 Sunday morning. He reported that sometime between 9:30 p.m. Wednesday and 9:20 a.m. Sunday, someone had pried open a door on the east side of the building to gain access to the church. A door leading into the area where speakers were mounted was forced open and the coax wire was pulled through the sheetrock.

The burglars gained entry to another area of the church where they found an older sound system, taking it with them when they fled from the premises.

A black leather glove that was found outside of the entry point was taken into evidence. Investigation into the crime currently continues through the department’s Criminal Investigation Division.
