Authorities investigate report of stolen firearm

Local law enforcement officials were asked to investigate last week when a Martin Road resident discovered that his firearm had been stolen. The forty-one year old victim reported that he had left his 1997 Chevrolet Silverado truck parked on his boss’ property with the keys in the ignition, as is his custom.

He said that he was away from the truck for around 5 ½ hours. The victim returned to find his Bluetooth headphones lying on the ground beneath the driver’s door.

When he checked inside, he discovered that someone had stolen his keys along with his Glock 17, 9mm handgun. He estimated his loss to be $400. The case currently remains under investigation.
