Trespasser Cuts Fence And Sets Up Camp
Lawrenceburg Now
An Ethridge resident filed a complaint with law enforcement officers Sunday after discovering that someone had cut through a fence on his property and set up camp.
Deputies with the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department met with the seventy-seven year old victim at the Pleasant Valley Road property at around 4:30 p.m. He explained that he had located a tent that had been erected at the back of his property. He said that the person responsible had cut through his fencing, as well.
Deputies made their way to the campsite and report finding a tent with a blue tarp covering it, some propane bottles, a used syringe lying next to some trash, and three yellow trash bags. Inside the tent, officers discovered a cigarette pack with several baggies containing a white powder, a cigarette lighter, several sheets, and an air mattress. The deputies noted that “it appeared that someone had been staying there.”
Deputies report that brush had been used to create a blind to conceal the tent and campsite.
Investigation into the incident is on-going through the department’s Criminal Investigation Division.
