TBI Have Obtained Indictments For An Inmate In The Custody Of Tennessee Department Of Correction Accused Of Mailing Several Threatning Letters
Press release
Special Agents from the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation have obtained indictments for an inmate in the custody of the Tennessee Department of Correction accused of mailing several letters threatening violence in Marshall County.
On November 26, 2013, at the request of 17th District Attorney General Robert Carter, TBI Special Agents began investigating the discovery of a letter, which was addressed to a student at a school in Marshall County who was a relative of an employee of the Marshall County Sheriff’s Department. The letter, intercepted by administrators at the school, threatened violence against the county’s courthouse and a retail establishment in Lewisburg.
During the course of the investigation, Agents developed information which led to Jason Lee Fisher, an inmate of the Tennessee Department of Correction in Wayne County, as the individual responsible for sending the threatening letter. While Agents were investigating the matter, two additional letters – both later attributed to Fisher – surfaced, threatening further violence on the same dates Fisher was set to be in court in Marshall County.
On October 30th, the Wayne County Grand Jury returned indictments, charging Fisher with three counts of Committing an Act of Terrorism. Today, he was served a capias charging him and subsequently released back into the custody of the Tennessee Department of Correction.
