Report Filed Regarding Suspicious Fire
Lawrenceburg Now
After making a third trip to the site of a fire Tuesday, a Lawrence County fire chief filed a report with sheriff’s deputies indicating that the blaze was suspicious in nature and that one of the residents had made a threat of bodily harm.
The complaint was filed with Lawrence County Sheriff’s deputies by the chief of the Gandy Volunteer Fire Department. When deputies arrived at the location of the fire, 11 HH Lane, the chief reported that this was the third time they had responded to the address since the previous day.
The complaint shows that firefighters were initially dispatched to the property on Monday. They responded a second time after which, the chief said, the back room and camper sitting beside the home were still standing “with almost no damage.” He told deputies that he had expected no more damage “due to the winds blowing away from them.”
Firefighters were dispatched to the location for the third time after 1:00 p.m. Tuesday. The chief reported that when they arrived “there was nothing left of either the camper or the back building.” He told deputies that he “suspected foul play and wanted the incident documented in case anything came of it.”
The chief also reported that upon their initial arrival they were warned that “one of the people staying in the house had stated if anyone was down here messing with anything, he’d cut their throat.”
At the time reports were filed the fire remained under investigation.
