Tuesday Crime Report
Lawrenceburg Now
Vandalism
A Mahr Avenue resident reported to police officers Sunday that he had been awakened by a loud noise the previous night. He said he looked out but was unable to determine whether anything was amiss because it was dark. The next morning he discovered that his mailbox and post had been damaged. Damages were estimated to be $100.
Vandalism
An officer answered a call to a Mahr Avenue apartment at around 2:00 a.m. Friday. The resident, age 19, reported that someone had spray painted the driver side of her 2016 Nissan Versa. Damages were assessed at $1,000.
Theft
The manager of the AT&T store on North Locust Avenue reported to police officers Friday that the business had experienced a near $600 loss due to thefts committed by an employee. The manager said that the employee had removed cash from the register between the dates of October 6 and November 5. The employee in question had reportedly written a letter of confession which was added to the police report.
Burglary
Police officers were dispatched on a burglary in progress call at a South Circle home Friday. The resident reported she had taken out her trash when she noticed the door had been opened on her vehicle. She told officers she could hear someone rummaging through the back yard, but that she was unable to see anyone. Her wallet, containing $75 in cash, was stolen out of her vehicle. In addition, she reported that her daughter’s bicycle had been stolen out of the back yard. Altogether, loss was said to be $250.
Fraudulent use of a debit card
A Loretto woman filed a complaint with police officers Thursday, reporting that someone had fraudulently used her debit card. She told officers that all nine unauthorized transactions, totaling $250, had been made at Cricket Wireless. Business employees indicated that they had checked their records and the victim’s account “had been compromised by someone outside of Cricket Wireless.”
Theft
Officers were called to a North Mahr Avenue home Thursday morning where a resident reported someone had stolen her cell phone. She said the iPhone 6, valued at $175 had been taken within the past two weeks by a male acquaintance. She told officers that she had confronted him, but that he refused to return the phone.
Theft
Police officers responded to Dollar Tree, 1604 North Locust Avenue Thursday where the manager reported that a dog kennel had been stolen from behind the business overnight. The crime occurred between 9:00 p.m. Wednesday and 8:00 a.m. Thursday. The manager said the kennel was used to store trash. Loss in the case was approximately $250.
