Lawrenceburg Woman Charged With Assaulting With Her Car
Lawrenceburg Now
A young Lawrenceburg woman was arrested last week after she allegedly assaulted another teen using her car.
The sixteen-year-old victim reported to Lawrenceburg Police officers that Mary Kamelia Wayne, age 18, of 901 First Avenue, Lawrenceburg had rammed her 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee multiple times while they were traveling through town.
Officers photographed damage to the victim’s vehicle and were able to recover a small amount of paint transfer. They estimated damages to the paint, door, and moldings to total around $500.
When they spoke with Wayne, officers indicate that she initially denied having struck the victim’s vehicle. She told them that the victim had, in fact, been the one who rammed her car. Shortly afterwards, however she admitted that the allegations were true.
Wayne told officers that she had been homeless and stayed with the victim and her mother for a brief time. She said that she had moved in with another friend following a dispute.
The victim and her mother had filed a complaint days before, accusing Wayne of entering their home without their permission. Reports show that she told officers that she had done so because her belongings were still inside the home.
Wayne was arrested on charges of aggravated assault and vandalism and incarcerated at the Lawrence County Detention Center under a $15,000 bond. She was scheduled an initial appearance in General Sessions Court on December 14, 2015.
Reports indicate that officers found information on Wayne’s phone (after she granted consent) regarding possible drug activity involving others. Investigation in the case is on-going at the current time.
