Christmas parade is icing on top of day full of fun
Before your holiday calendar gets too crowded, set aside Saturday, December 3 as a day dedicated to Christmas fun.
Where but downtown Lawrenceburg will you find Santa Claus, the Grinch, holiday games and crafts, a 5K, delicious hot drinks, and a parade? No other place will offer the variety of activities for all ages offered here, so make plans for it now.
Santa’s Workshop, which is sponsored by Leadership Lawrence County Alumni, begins with Santa’s arrival, by train, at 9:45. All his friends are invited to walk with him to his Lawrenceburg headquarters, Providence Hall.
Waiting there at 10 a.m. will be none other than the Grinch, and a chance for kids to have their hair styled like his neighbors, the Whos. Face painting, games, photos with Santa and the Grinch, and several holiday craft projects will be offered, too. Children are invited to visit until the event ends at 2 p.m.
The Java Jingle is a brand-new event that begins at 1 p.m. and benefits the Lawrence County High School Class of 2017 Drug-Free After Graduation Party. It includes a 5K and the chance to enjoy all the delicious coffees, hot chocolate and cider you’d like.
At 4:55 p.m., Lawrenceburg Mayor Keith Durham will light the city’s Christmas tree, signaling the start of the 62nd annual Chamber of Commerce Christmas parade. Lighted floats, marching bands and more will be led by a very special grand marshal, whose work is familiar to all Lawrence Countians. Registration for all other entries is underway now – call the Chamber at 762-4911.
Coming soon, more details about every part of this exceptional day.
