Lawrenceburg Now
Theft
Police officers answered a call to Third Street Wednesday where the residents reported that, while they were in the process of moving, someone had stolen items from the home. Missing were a Play Station 4 gaming system and one controller along with oxycodone pills. Loss was estimated at $900.
Burglary/theft
An Oak Street resident reported to police officers Wednesday during the time that she visited three separate businesses on North Locust Avenue, someone stole her cell phone out of her vehicle. She told officers that she had left her vehicle unlocked. Loss was approximately $80.
Shoplifting
A police officer was dispatched to Dollar General Store on West Gaines Street at around 3:30 Wednesday afternoon to investigate allegations of shoplifting. As he pulled into the parking lot, the officer reports seeing the named suspect driving a 2005 Ford across the parking lot. The woman, identified as thirty-five year old Chasity Gail Kelley of 265 Oak Street in Iron City, reportedly had a few items of clothing with Dollar General price tags attached, inside the vehicle. Having no receipt, she admitted that she had taken a pair of pants from the store without paying for them. Reports show that she was also driving on a suspended driver’s license. Kelley was issued a citation for shoplifting and was arrested on the charge of driving on a suspended license. She is scheduled to answer the charge in General Sessions Court on December 7, 2017.
Vandalism
Police officers responded to Fair Avenue Tuesday where the resident reported someone had punctured two tires on his 2014 Ford Escape while he slept overnight. Damages totaled around $300.
Theft
On Tuesday officers were flagged down by a woman on Centennial Boulevard who reported that, while she had been inside a nearby store, she had left her keys lying on an ice cream freezer. She said she left the store, then went back to retrieve her keys. She told officers that her keys had been stolen. A review of security footage showed that a man had picked up and taken the keys.
Vandalism/Theft
Officers were summoned to Holtsford Street last week where a resident reported that an intoxicated acquaintance had broken his porch rail along with a cabbage plant he had been growing for his granddaughter. A second victim reported that the same man had stolen two packs of cigarettes from him before leaving the scene. Total loss was estimated to be $63.
Aggravated burglary
Officers arrived at a Gallaher Street home Monday where the residents reported that someone had come into their home through an unlocked back door and stole medications and a yellow and black Vape. They said they had been away for an hour, returning to find the rear door standing open. They were uncertain who could have committed the crime.
