Man assaulted while exiting convenience store

Authorities were asked to open an investigation last week after a Leoma man was assaulted while walking out of a local convenience store.

The eighteen year old victim filed a complaint with Lawrenceburg Police officers, indicating that the assault occurred at around 10:15 p.m. at Rick’s BBQ on Highway 43 South.

The victim reported that it was closing time and that he and a female friend were exiting the store when he was suddenly jumped by two individuals. He told officers that one of the men remarked, “You’ve had this coming for a while.” He said that one of them struck him in the head, but “not hard enough to hurt.”

Once the female said that she was calling for police assistance, they report that the pair fled toward the rear of the store building, across the railroad tracks and into a field/wooded area.

At the time the crime occurred, the victim said both men were wearing black bandanas and hoodies. He said that he had no idea who his assailants were.

At the present time the case remains under investigation.
