Man arrested for public intoxication while riding stolen bicycle
Lawrenceburg Now
A Lawrenceburg man was jailed last week for being intoxicated in public while riding a stolen bicycle.
Lawrenceburg Police officers were notified of a man who was possibly intoxicated, riding a bicycle along North Locust Avenue. They had received a report earlier indicating that the man, identified as twenty-seven year old Jimmy Ray Chambers of 314 Tipton Street, had stolen a bicycle from another Tipton Street resident. When they asked about the bicycle, Chambers told them that “he had borrowed it and was on his way to take it back.”
Officers noted that Chambers was very unstable on his feet and had a strong odor of alcohol about his person. They asked that he perform field sobriety tests and report that he was unable to perform satisfactorily. He was subsequently arrested on charges of public intoxication.
Chambers was transported to the Lawrence County Detention Center where he was held in lieu of a $2,000 bond. He is scheduled to appear in General Sessions Court on November 3, 2016.
