Ethridge operation leads to drug, SOR charges
Lawrenceburg Now
Ethridge authorities report that an operation undertaken through the city’s police department last week resulted in drug and sex offender registry violation charges being brought.
Officials with the Ethridge Police Department report that officers responded to 214 High Street on Tuesday in conjunction with an investigation into stolen property. While they were conducting a search of the premises, they report finding residents Ricky Gene Burks and Amanda M. Binkley hiding in a bedroom closet. Both were subsequently detained.
Officers located several items of contraband inside of a bag belonging to Binkley, including two bags of a substance that was later identified as methamphetamine. As a result, she was arrested on charges of possession of a controlled substance (meth) for the purpose of resale.
In addition, officials report that during the investigation it came to light that Burks was a convicted sex offender. They determined that he had been residing approximately three hundred feet away from a daycare center, which is a violation of the state’s Sex Offender Registry law. Burks was also placed under arrest, charged with violating the Sex Offender Registry law.
Both Binkley and Burks were transported to the Lawrence County Detention Center for incarceration.
