Shoplifter Jailed For Various Drug Offenses
Lawrenceburg Now
Police officials who were called upon to investigate an instance of shoplifting last week ultimately jailed the suspect on several drug charges.
Officers with the Lawrenceburg Police Department responded to Walmart, located at 2130 North Locust Avenue, where they spoke with Loss Prevention personnel. They reported that they had detained thirty-five year old Monique Ann Harrison, of 228 Flattwoods Road, on suspicion of shoplifting. They told officers that she had taken $31.93 worth of merchandise and attempted to leave without paying for the items.
Officers report that they spoke with Harrison and obtained information about the crime. They asked her whether she had any additional merchandise on her person and they indicate that she retrieved a tub of cold sore medicine from the waistband of her pants.
Harrison granted permission for officers to check inside her purse. Inside, they report finding a clear plastic bag that contained what appeared to be methamphetamine. Also found were six Xanax pills wrapped in aluminum foil, two pink pills identified as Dextroamphetamine, and a second aluminum foil packet that contained more meth along with a small amount of marijuana.
Harrison was placed under arrest and transported to the Lawrence County Detention Center. She was booked under charges of possession of Schedule II narcotics for the purpose of resale, possession of Schedule IV narcotics for the purpose of resale, and simple possession of Schedule VI narcotics. Additionally, she was issued a citation on the shoplifting charge. Bond was set at $8,500.
Harrison is slated to answer the charges in General Sessions Court on November 6, 2015.
