Burglar cooks food, steals items while resident is away

A burglar made himself at home after gaining entry to a Kennedy Street home, stealing items and cooking food while the resident was away.

Officers with the Lawrenceburg Police Department spoke with the fifty-two year old resident who reported that he had spent the weekend at a relative’s house, returning to discover his home had been burglarized.

Reports show that the rear door had been forced open, resulting in damage to the door frame. Every room in the home had been rummaged through. Several items were either vandalized or stolen.

The owner reported that he had found eggs that had been left out on the kitchen counter and dirty dishes that had been left lying about, as well. He said the burglar had cooked a meal before leaving the home.

Outside, the resident said a lock had been broken off of a garage. He said that two tool boxes filled with Craftsmen tools were missing.

The resident was unable to determine everything that had been stolen at the time reports were filed. He indicated he would inventory his belongings in order to determine the extent of his loss.
