Lawrenceburg Market Targeted By Burglars
Lawrenceburg Now
Burglars targeted a Lawrenceburg market overnight Monday, making off with money and leaving considerable damage in their wake.
An employee of Busy Bee Market notified Lawrenceburg Police officers of the crime shortly after 5:00 a.m. Tuesday. She said that she had arrived to find that the store’s security alarm was sounding.
Police officers cleared the building, discovering that metal rods had been pulled away from a rear window and the wire mesh cut. They believe this to be the point of entry. In addition, the rear door was standing open.
Officers found that the persons responsible had ripped the drawer from the cash register, destroying it, and strewn packages of cigarettes behind the counter. A drawer had been left open with the cash that had been kept inside missing, and a quarter slot machine had been turned over and the money removed.
The employee reported that the burglary had occurred sometime after the store closed at 10:00 p.m. Monday.
Once the owner arrived on the scene he was able to assess loss and damages. He estimated that they would total $2,200.
Anyone who has information regarding the burglary is urged to contact the police department at 931-762-2276.
