Arrestee Threatens To Attack Neighbors, Police Officers With Dog
Lawrenceburg Now
Prior to his arrest last week, a Lawrenceburg man incarcerated on an assault charge allegedly threatened to have his dog attack neighbors and police officers.
Reports filed through the Lawrenceburg Police Department show that officers were called to apartments in the 1800 block of North Mahr Avenue where several residents reported that a man had threatened to have his dog bite them. They told officers that the man’s dog had been running loose, but was then inside the apartment, and that the dog was trained to attack on command.
Officers report that it took several commands before the dog owner, identified as forty-eight year old Timothy Travis Jenkins of 355 Deller Street, exited the apartment. Once he did so, they said he began to scream profanity and make threats toward the officers and bystanders. One officer reported, “He was asked several times to quieten down and stop using profanity.” Once at the detention center they report that he made repeated threats against officers. Jenkins was subsequently arrested on charges of assault and disorderly conduct.
A second person inside the apartment, thirty year old Curtis John Luna of 507 Fifth Street, was confronted by officers and officials with the Housing Authority. Reports indicate that he was on the Housing Authority’s “trespass list.” He had previously been warned not to be back on the property.
A crowd of around twenty-five residents had gathered due to the disturbance and reports show that Luna was yelling profanities at them. Luna reportedly fled on foot, leading the officers on a brief foot chase. He was apprehended at the entrance to the Old Flannigan Field and placed under arrest for public intoxication and criminal trespassing.
Bond for Jenkins was set at $3,000 while Luna’s bond was set at $500. Jenkins and Luna will be required to appear in Lawrence County General Sessions Court on November 6, 2015. Luna was also scheduled to answer the criminal trespassing charge through Lawrenceburg City Court on October 20.
