Home burglaries are under investigation
Lawrenceburg Now
Law enforcement officials have opened investigations into a number of home burglaries that occurred in Lawrenceburg during the weekend.
Officers with the Lawrenceburg Police Department responded to a home on Highway 43 South Sunday where the resident reported that a green Poulan chainsaw and a tablet had been stolen from inside of his residence. He estimated his loss to be $150.
The victim told officers that the crime had been captured on security video next door at the Baptist Association building. He said he had spoken with officials there, but that they would not release the video to an individual. Detectives are continuing to investigate the matter.
On Sunday, officers spoke with a Buffalo Road resident who reported someone had broken into his home while he was out of town. He said he returned to find his front door standing open and several lights inside that had been turned on.
The police officer quickly cleared the home. The resident looked around, but said he was unable to determine whether anything was missing. He said at first glance everything appeared to be in its proper place.
The victim told officers that his daughter had been by the previous day and the door had still been secured. The officer noted there were no visible signs of forced entry.
Officers had previously responded to a home on Walnut Avenue where the eighty-nine year old female resident had discovered around $50 worth of property damage. Reports show that a screen had been cut and several figurines and bowls had been removed from the inside sill of a bay window.
The items were found lying on the ground outside. The reporting officer noted that it appeared the actions were made “to make room for entry.” He said that there was around one inch of water standing in the bowls when they were found.
The resident told officers that nothing appeared to be missing. She said she was uncertain when the crime had actually occurred.
Currently, the cases remain under investigation through the department’s Criminal Investigation Division. Anyone who has information about any of the crimes should contact the department at 931-762-2276.
