Authorities continue to investigate Tuesday shooting death

Investigation is continuing into a shooting incident that occurred Tuesday claiming the life of a local man, however authorities indicate that it resulted from a domestic altercation that took place in the home.

Officials with the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department reported Tuesday that ambulance service personnel had been dispatched to the 169 Spring Creek Road home in the Gandy community that afternoon, "in reference to a subject unresponsive and not breathing."

They arrived to find that resident Daniel Eric Weeks, age 43, had sustained multiple gunshot wounds. He was transported to Southern Tennessee Regional Health Systems Lawrenceburg where he was later pronounced dead.

No charges have been brought in the case. Officials indicate that the shooting involved Weeks’ teenage son who had been attempting to defend his mother in the domestic assault. Both of the couple’s children were at home at the time the altercation occurred.

Details of the case currently remain under investigation.
