Lawrenceburg Now
Aggravated burglary
Nearly $2,000 worth of damage was reported in the wake of a burglary at a Captain Drive home. The owner reported on Tuesday that when she left for work she had noticed that the front door to the apartment was standing open. She said she made sure that no one was inside, secured the door, then went to work so that she would not be late. After work she began to assess the damage. She said that several items were missing including a TV, Xbox 360 gaming system, and several games. Reports show that a kitchen window was open and the screen raised.
Mailbox vandalism
Deputies spoke with a Davis Street, Summertown resident last week who reported that his mailbox had been vandalized, resulting in around $100 worth of damage. He said the box had been knocked off of the post, and the mailbox itself was missing.
Home burglary
Deputies answered a call to a North Walnut Street, Iron City home where they spoke with a female resident. She said that she had been away from her home, returning to find that a window on the north side of the residence had been pried open. The latch was broken during the commission of the crime, and a candle holder was broken when the intruder made entry. She said nothing appeared to be missing, but that items had been rummaged through and scattered. She estimated damages to total $300.
Theft
A Polaris Razor, valued at $10,000 was stolen out of a garage on Highway 20 in Summertown. The victim said that she had stored it in her brother’s garage and had planned to sell it in the Oktoberfest yard sales.
Vehicle burglary
Police officers spoke with a Lynnville resident who had been staying at America’s Best Value Inn on North Locust Avenue, who reported the burglary of her 2015 Dodge Charger. She said that the car had been left unsecured outside her motel room. Stolen was a black and gold pair of Nike Shox tennis shoes valued at $125.
Vehicle burglary
A newly-filled bottle of prescription pills was reportedly stolen out of a 2006 Toyota Camry on Monday. The victim told police officers that the perpetrator had apparently reached through a window that was partially down and grabbed the bottle. Loss to the victim was $13.50.
Home burglary
The owner of an East Gaines Street property reported to police officers that someone had illegally gained entry to the home through a window on the east side of the house. He said the window was left open, but that nothing appeared to be missing.
Vandalism
Police officers spoke with the owner of a Hoover Street property last week who reported that he had stopped by to check the home after some renters had moved out. He told officers that he found the front door unlocked and around $540 worth of damage to the home. A closet door had been ripped from the door frame, one window was broken, two ceiling fans were busted, and holes were punched in some of the walls. He told officers that he did not believe the previous tenants had anything to do with the damage.
Home burglary
Burglars targeted a home on Highway 43 South late last week, forcing open a window. The resident told officers he had been away from his home throughout the day. He said that a wooden spoon that he had wedged into a sliding window had been broken, alerting him to the break-in. A 9” Samsung tablet was missing along with an iPhone 4, and a controller for an Xbox One gaming system. Altogether, loss was said to total around $810.
Vehicle burglary
Police officers investigated the burglary of a 2001 Ford Expedition on Fifth Avenue last week. The owner reported that the vehicle had been left unsecured outside her residence. The ignition key and keyless entry, valued at $250, was reportedly stolen.
Vandalism
A vandalism at a local doctor’s office resulted in approximately $100 worth of damage. On Monday police officers were called to the East Gaines Street location. Employees reported that someone had tampered with the locking mechanism on the back door, breaking it. They said that the alarm had not sounded and it appeared that no one had gained entry.
