Columbia State Foundation Gives $150,000 to New Lawrence Campus
Press release
Columbia State Community College President, Dr. Janet Smith, met with Lawrence County Executive T.R. Williams, State Representative Barry Doss, representatives of the Lawrence County Chamber of Commerce, the Lawrence County College Project Committee, and the Columbia State Foundation on Wednesday, October 4 to contribute $150,000 to the new college campus in Lawrence County.
“Lawrence County has long been committed to providing post secondary opportunities to its citizens,” explained Dr. Smith. “This vision has been evident in the support of the existing Lawrence Campus which opened in 1988. Once again, this community has formed a vision to expand educational opportunities for not just its citizens, but the Southern Middle Tennessee region. Columbia State is honored to be a part of this effort.”
“Columbia State has played an important role in the life of our community for many years,” said County Executive T.R. Williams. “This donation demonstrates their commitment to the future of Lawrence County, and it raises our partnership with them to a whole new level. We so appreciate Columbia State and the work they continue to do here.”
Columbia State Community College, Tennessee Colleges of Applied Technology at Hohenwald and Pulaski, and Tennessee Technological University have committed to offering post secondary degrees and multiple industry certifications at the new campus. A complete listing of degree programs will be announced in the spring of 2018. The new campus is scheduled to open in 2019.
