Man reports being assaulted while opening door
Lawrenceburg Now
A Lawrenceburg man was arrested recently after he was accused of assaulting another man while he was opening the door to his motel room.
According to reports filed through the Lawrenceburg Police Department, the incident resulted in charges of aggravated assault being issued against forty-one year old Shawn Antonio Mandrialle Howell of 410 Third Street.
Officers were dispatched to David Crockett Motel on East Gaines Street where the victim, age 55, reported that he had been inside his motel room with two other individuals.
The victim reported that he heard a knock and opened the door. When he was in the process of doing so, he said that his girlfriend's ex-boyfriend, Howell, grabbed him, slammed his head into the door, then ran away.
Officers noted that the victim had sustained a large gash on his head. Emergency medical personnel were dispatched to the scene, however the victim refused treatment.
Officers report that they were able to locate Howell at his residence on Third Street a short time alter. They indicate that he admitted he had been at the motel and confronted and pushed the victim. He said that he had grabbed the man, but that he had not assaulted him.
Howell was transported to the Lawrence County Detention Center where he was incarcerated under a bond of $5,000. He was scheduled an initial appearance in General Sessions Court on November 4, 2016.
