Burglar alarm scares away intruder
Lawrenceburg Now
The sounding of a burglar alarm is what officials believe scared away an intruder at a Brink Street home recently.
According to reports filed through the Lawrenceburg Police Department officers responded to a burglary in progress call. While they were en route, however, they were informed that the suspect, described as a tall, dark-skinned man with a muscular build, wearing blue jeans and a blue button-up shirt, with a black backpack and white rubber gloves, had fled from the scene on foot.
Officers arrived at the address to find that the front door had been kicked open and the door frame and lock were damaged. The residents reported that nothing appeared to be missing. They said that they believed the burglar had been scared away when the alarm sounded.
Owners did determine that the outbuilding had been burglarized. They told officers that a metal latch had been forced open and a weed eater stolen from inside.
Officers searched the area and, although they were unable to locate the suspect, they reported finding the weed eater abandoned near a Kramer Avenue home along with burglary tools.
Damages to the home were estimated to total $285.
